This is an 11" banjo with 24 hex shoes and a 1/4" rolled brass tone ring. The rim is 3 1/8" deep and is made of highly figured Birdseye maple. The hex shoes, rim bolts, hooks and nuts are made here in the shop. The shoes are turned to fit into the wide round base washers that are also made here in the shop. All hardware is modeled after Lyon and Healy hardware. Similar hex shoes with a round base were produced in the 1870's. Ebony rim cap. The neck is air dried figured walnut. 25.5" scale, ebony fingerboard and evo gold frets. Geared tuners with ebony knobs. Cast bronze BB tailpiece and a goat skin head.
